A daily devotional through the Bible speaking with God as Adam and Eve may have in the garden east of Eden. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com
Not many people think much about the third commandment God gave Moses. It says we are not to take his name in vain, or misuse it, or dishonor it. Names in the ancient orient meant much more than they do today at a time when people seem to just put syllables together in any order that makes sense (or not). God made examples of some who misused his name in the story of Sceva's sons. One day all who misuse and profane his name will suffer the consequences of breaking God's command. Being stripped naked, beaten, and running through the streets naked will seem like time-out compared to what an eternity separated from God will be like. Be careful of his name.
Today's Bible reading plans include:
Ready - Acts 19:8-20
Set - Leviticus 19; Acts 19
Go! - Leviticus 18-19; Psalms 13; Acts 19
